The Grand Ole Opry House
is located in the east of Nashville and is about 9 miles from downtown Nashville. It has a seating capacity of 4,400. Part of the stage is made up of wood cut from the original stage, which was at the Ryman Auditorium. The Opry House opened its doors to its patrons on March 16, 1974 and President Nixon himself attended the opening ceremony, playing some songs on the piano. It was originally part of the Opryland USA, a theme park, which closed in 1997 and was replaced by a shopping mall. However, the Opry Housewas not touched and it is now part of Opry Mills mall.

was flooded in 2010, when Cumberland River overflowed its banks. A large area of Nashville was flooded too. But even that calamity could not dampen the spirits of country music fans and the Oprywas temporarily moved to different locations. Some of the shows were hosted by its earlier home, the Ryman Auditorium. Other venues that hosted country music stars were the Allen Arena, Nashville Municipal Auditorium, TPAC’s Andrew Jackson Hall and War Memorial Auditorium, etc. Despite severe flooding, the show went on. However, fortunately after necessary repairs were made, the Opry returned to the Grand Ole Opry House
a few months later with an unforgettable musical evening. The evening was full of enigmatic performances by stars like Marty Stuart, Ricky Skaggs, Steve Wariner, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, the Charlie Daniels Band, Montgomery Gentry, Lorrie Morgan, Josh Turner, Del McCoury, Dierks Bentley, along with Connie Smith and Martina McBride.

The show, after about five successful years of broadcast, decided to be extended to four hours in early 1930s. It was also made to broadcast over Saturday nights and was run in 30 states. The show was run for the first time over NBC Radio in 1939. It was in 1943 that the show was moved to its new and permanent home, the Ryman Auditorium.
