The first concert was held in 1964, featuring the LA Philharmonic. Since then, it has seen many companies reside and perform including the LA Master Chorale, the Los Angeles Opera, the New York City Opera, which visited the venue in its tours regularly.
The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion played host to the annual Academy Awards, held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, from 1969 to 1987. It again hosted the Oscars from 1990 to 1994, again in 1996 and the last time, in 1999. It is presently the home of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center and the Los Angeles Opera. Surprisingly, it is also featured in a game, Midnight Club: Los Angeles.
