Center Stage Theatre Tickets Information

The building consists of two theaters in one; the downstairs 541-seat Pearlestone Theater (permanent seating), and the upstairs Head Theater (general admission). The traditional proscenium stage and the other offer directors more flexibility in set design and staging. Both theaters offer excellent seats that are close to the stage with an unobstructed view of the actors. The venue also houses three bars and a restaurant.
The theater has seen many ups and down during its course of growth including a potentially disastrous arson fire in 1974 that burned its North Avenue home to the ground. The strong support of local civic leaders helped the theater continue its season at a local college, and launch a major public relations and capitol campaign to keep the organization alive.
Center Stage (aka CENTERSTAGE) has been herarled by Time Magazine as "an unsung regional of the first rank", and the Wall Street Journal recently acclaimed it as ?a model of what regional theater can and should be." This award-winning theater in Baltimore's historic Mt. Vernon Cultural District attracts the finest actors, directors, and designers from all over the country and more than 100,000 fans each season.
Many major American plays have been developed at Maryland's state theater (including works by August Wilson and Eric Overmyer), which has presented new and classic work since 1963. Center Stage has staged classics from Shakespeare, Moliere and Chekhov. Under the artistic direction of Irene Lewis, it currently presents a six-play Mainstage Season, as well as a new play development series called First Look. Subscriptions to the full six-play Mainstage season start at $60, and single tickets cost as little as $10. The theater even offers Pay-Your-Age, Day of Performance, Senior, Student, and Pay-What-You-Can performances, when theatergoers can set their own prices. On the whole, CENTERSTAGE offers bold and imaginative works that has enhanced the movie goers experience and ensured its position as Baltimore's finest theater company.
