are all set to rock the arenas with their deft maneuvering and amazing passes!
Set up in Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada, in the year 1930, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
are the descendants of the original Canadian football club of 1879 called the Winnipeg Rugby Football Club. In 1930, the Manitoba Rugby Football Union carried out an amalgamation of all the teams in its union and formed a single formidable team. This team was called Winnipeg Winnipegs Rugby Football Club. Their official colors were white and green. The team’s very first game was against St. John’s Rugby Club, which belonged to the University of Manitoba and lost the game 3-7. Two years later these two teams were combined into a single team which we know as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
and changed their official colors to blue and golden. However, this name came to be used later, in 1936 to be precise, when the journalists started calling them ‘Blue Bombers’, inspired by the heavyweight champ, Joe Louis’s media nickname of ‘Brown Bomber’.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers Tickets Information
Considering the fact that the talent pool of the team had considerably widened since the two mergers, their success was not long in coming. Earlier their ten participations in the Grey Cup had not yielded any successful results but three years after the last amalgamation, Winnipeg Blue Bombers won their first ever Grey Cup. The amazing talent of the team outshone their opponents, ‘Hamilton’s Tigers’, who were the home team. They never gave the Tigers any chance to take the lead and won the game 18-12. With this great team display, they set the record of becoming the first side from the West of Canada to triumph at the Grey Cup.
That was just the beginning of an illustrious run. They went on to appear in 23 Grey Cup finals out of which they won ten. Their last final match appearance was in 2007. Moreover, Winnipeg Blue Bombers have bagged thirteen Western Division Championships between the years 1936 and 1972 and seven Eastern Division Championships between the time period of 1988 and 2007. For a whooping 22 regular seasons, they attained the top place among the participating football teams.
With this kind of record, blue and golden colors seem apt for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers football jerseys as the colors reflect the team’s glorious past and their thunderous performances. This image is further endorsed by their logo which constitutes a rugby ball flying across the letter W and trailing a lightning bolt. Their home stadium is Canad Inns Stadium . However, they will be shifting to a new arena next year. Their games are covered by three local radio channels: CJOB, 99.5 Cable FM and 680 AM.
