In 1998, the team began playing in the Pacific Coast League due to the annulment of the American Association, which they had been a part of since their formation. Comprising of sixteen baseball teams, the Pacific Coast League is part of the trio that plays at "Triple A" classification; the other two being Mexican League and International League. Since its foundation in 1903, the Pacific Coast League has organized a league championship annually.
Omaha Royals Limited Partnership operates the team. Until 2012, the three primary owners included "Warren Buffet", who is not only an influential business tycoon but also a venerated philanthropist cited as one of the most affluent people in the world today.
