Olympics Flatwater Canoe kayak Tickets Information

History
For many years, Canoes and Kayaks have been used for traveling by people of different origins. Canoes were used for two purposes. One aim was to indulge in activities such as fishing and hunting. Secondly it was a means for carrying soldiers into battles. Originally, the canoe was built of an open-topped bark, which was developed by the Native North Americans. Kayaks on the other hand, were built by stretching animal skins over a frame of wood. The kayaks were first developed by the Aleuts and Inuits of the Northern Arctic regions. The idea was to develop a close-topped kayak, in order to prevent the cold artic waters from entering the canoe.
