New Jersey Devils is National Hockey League’s professional ice hockey team. The team plays under NHL’s Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference. The franchise was created in 1974, originally in Kansas City, Missouri, and was named Kansas City Scouts. After playing two seasons, the club was relocated to Denver, Colorado and was renamed as Colorado Rockies. Finally in 1982 the team was moved to its current location, New Jersey, and given its current name “New Jersey Devils”. New Jersey Devils started off their career with a tie of 3 – 3 with Pittsburgh Penguins. Their very first victory was achieved at their home ground against New York Rangers by 3 – 2. They were hosts of NHL’s ‘83 – ‘84 All-Star season. After the change of ownership, Devil’s got themselves together and slowly maintained a steady pace to more respectable games. In their fourteen years of career, the Devils gained their very first winning record in the season of ’87 – ’88. They ended up in a tie with Rangers with 82 points each. With one more win, the team for the very first time made it to the playoffs.

Devils missed the playoffs once again in the next season, ending up with the decision of making several changes in the team. In 1995 season, they started off surprisingly well, defeating Philadelphia Flyers, and clean-sweeping Detroit Red Wings, heart favorites and winning their very first Stanley Cup. During the years 2001 – 2004, the team succeeded in winning one more Stanley Cup in 2002 – 2003 season. In 2010, their long-time head coach Jacques Lemaire retired. The post was secured by John MacLean , who was later replaced with Peter DeBoer , former coach of Florida Panthers.
New Jersey Devils play their home games at “Prudential Center”, an indoor multi-purpose arena located in the central district of Newark, New Jersey. The arena was opened on October 25 th 2005. The ground has a seating capacity of 17,625 for an ice hockey game. Prudential Center has an exterior colored grey and red, representing the railroad and bricklaying heritage of Newark. It has a LED display of 466 m2, one of the biggest of the world.
