The team called itself ‘Nuggets’ with the purpose of connecting in spirit to the gold rush that resulted from the Colorado mining boom of the 19 th Century when many crowds rushed in to get a hand on their silver and gold nuggets and have their fortunes improved. At home, Denver Nuggets play their games at the multi-purpose Pepsi Center that is popularly known as the Can. The center is also home to other athletic teams including Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Mammoth, while the arena hosts concerts at all other times throughout the year. Build on a piece of land sizing across a grand 4.6 acres, the center’s construction was completed in 1999 with a special facility just for basketball practice, which is also used by the Denver Nuggets. The arena also has a luxurious little spot where they built a restaurant called the Blue Sky Grill , where spectators can munch on some delicious treats even during the game since the restaurant is accessible from both, inside and outside. Before the Pepsi Center was allotted to the Nuggets as their home ground, the team played at the Denver Auditorium Arena till 1975, from where on they played at the McNichols sports Arena till 1999.

Denver Nuggets experienced the best two seasons of their history when they newly joined the NBA in 1976 under Larry Brown as their head coach when the Nuggets went into the 1975-76 finals. The Denver Nuggets were one of the four fortunate teams that were selected by the NBA alongside the San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers and the New York Nets to participate in the then upcoming 1976-77 season. With these changes the new logo of the team revealed a miner that while digging discovered an ABA ball. The Nuggets lived up to their strongly competitive reputation in the early exciting years of the NBA by winning division titles in their two first consecutive seasons in the new league. In fact, they only missed the title in the third season on the count of being short of just one game.
