Carolina Hurricanes Tickets Information

The next game of Carolina Hurricanes is just around the corner with fans of the very successful and popular ice hockey team getting restless with anticipation as the day gets nearer. The match promises to be full of excitement and many thrills and chills and is one event diehard fans of the team would not want to miss. The team is based in Raleigh and is the only ice hockey team in the state of North Carolina to not be from Charlotte. The Hurricanes are members of the National Hockey League and are part of the South East Division of the Eastern Conference.

In the past, the Carolina Hurricanes have been known as the New England Whalers and Hartford Whalers. The team in fact was founded in 1971 and became a member of the World Hockey Association. They were called the New England Whalers at that time and were one of the most successful and stable teams in the WHA. After the merger between the NHL and the WHA, the Hurricanes became a member of the NHL in 1979, and opted for a new name the Hartford Whalers. Unfortunately their first few years in the NHL were not as good as many had anticipated and the team failed to recreate the effect of their former glory days in the WHA. They did not even make it to the playoffs in the last few years as the Whalers and between 1979 and 1992 only had three winning seasons.

But all of this was about to change when the team was sold to Peter Karmanos in 1994. He moved them to North Carolina, and changed their name to now known Carolina Hurricanes. The move however was unplanned and given the short time frame the team found itself in a place with no arena suitable for NHL hockey, and to play their home games had to travel to Greensboro which was at a ninety minutes drive from Raleigh where the team was no based. The fans however were unwilling to travel this far on regular basis to catch a game and this resulted in very low attendance at most of their games for the first three seasons. But despite all of this the team made the playoffs which was their first appearance since 1992.

The Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena finished construction in 1999 and became the home ground for the Carolina Hurricanes. This made possible for the fans of the team to catch their every game without going through the hassle of an hour and a half long travel. With more than $200 million US dollars spent in construction and a capacity to hold crowds up to twenty thousand, the ESA was easily one of the best stadiums in NHL. The name for the multipurpose sports centre was changed to the RBC Center in 2002. With the RBC Center as the new home for the Hurricanes the attendance for their every game has been continuously increasing, and the arena is always packed to its capacity on important game days and has often been called the noisiest building in NHL.

The Carolina Hurricanes rose to national prominence in 2002 after winning several matches and titles that year. The team made it to the finals of the Stanley Cup that year but lost out to Detroit Red Wings. The same magic was recreated in 2005-06 when even after having lost more than nine games in the playoffs the team eventually made it to the finals of the Stanley Cup. They eventually won the title and became national champions for the first time in the franchise history. The subsequent years following their big win have seen the team make it to the playoffs several times and win a lot more titles and trophies. In addition the Stanley Cup the team has won the Conference Championship twice and Division Championship three times in their entire history.

The Carolina Hurricanes use red, black, silver and white as their team colors and their home uniform is red pants with red jerseys. These colors are seen everywhere in the RBC center whenever the team is scheduled to play. If you are a fan of ice hockey, and do not want to miss out on the action featuring one of the best teams in NHL, then get your Carolina Hurricanes Tickets now.
