ZZ Top, soon to perform at the upcoming ZZ Top 3 Doors Down concert, was formed in 1969 with initial lineup comprising of Peter Perez on percussion and drums, and Anthony Barajas on the keyboards and bass. After trying out several musicians, the group was joined by Beard and Hill after a year, and was then signed with London records with which they released their first album. As live performers, the band become very successful and gained popularity among its following who called them the ‘lil’ ol’ band from Texas’. Their studio offering of 1973 called Tres Hombres, as reported by Allmusic, pushed the band into attaining national fame.
The group kept touring and in 1979 came back to the studio after touring for a year and a half, after which they re-launched themselves with a new album released in 1983 titled Eliminator, which was followed by another tour. At this point the band began adding punk and New Wave elements to their trademark sound and concerts, projecting more of an iconic image, alongside Hill and Gibbons having grown chest-length beards with which they wore sunglasses.  The band continued experimenting in similar ways through the eighties and nineties. Then in 2003, ZZ Top released an album titled Mescalero, with which they took on more contemporary style music while still continuing with the same image they created in their earlier days. They have sold over twenty-five million albums in the US alone with fourteen studio albums. In 2004, the group was allotted a star on Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and their ZZ Top 3 Doors Down performance, in all its rock charisma, will prove just why.
3 Doors Down, which too will be performing at the ZZ Top 3 Doors Down show, comprises of Brad Arnold on lead vocals, Matt Roberts on lead guitar, Chris Henderson on rhythm guitar, Todd Harrell on bass guitar and Greg Upchurch on drums and percussion. The group’s 2000 album, The Better Life, with which they gained considerable popularity was the eleventh best selling studio offering of the year and attained the status of certified six-times platinum in the US. Their next album titled Away from the Sun, took the band’s success even higher by debuting on the eighth place on Billboard 200, and going multi-platinum nationally. This was followed by rigorous touring that lasted two years, after which the band returned to the studio for their third album called Seventeen Days, which too appeared as a Number One on Billboard and gained the ranks of certified platinum within its initial month of release.
