When the band was formed, the band members initially just wanted to create and play music with the acoustic musical instruments of theirs like many other rock oriented bands. They learned some old traditional as well as fiddle songs and worked on creating bluegrass music genre songs. They blended these music genres and started to create their own melodies which were eventually followed by creating songs that were entirely their work. The band members were a part of other bands also, but once they had formed their own group with their own unique sounds, all of them ultimately left other bands and focused upon this band.
When the Trampled by Turtles band was finally formed, it came as a challenge to the band member to try and create their own original sounds, tunes and melodies. They came up with a fantastic instrumental lineup that aided in creating the mind blowing music that this band produces. After writing their own songs, the band eventually recorded a few albums. The initial few albums of the band represent the earlier influences of music that they had which was borrowed from traditional and folk styles. They started touring all over the world, and ultimately gained a massive fan following for them.
