The New York Pops orchestra has been committed to playing popular American music for more than two decades. They are currently led by Steven Reineke, the renowned music director but it was originally the vision of Skitch Henderson, the NBC Music Director. His motivation behind this organization was to put the rich American musical heritage in the limelight with quality concerts and programs. The organization has been working in creating public awareness about this years old music legacy, while making it enjoyable to the greatest.
The New York Pops tours all around the globe taking their music to the farthest areas, including performances in Japan, Korea, Seoul, Osaka and Tokyo. They have done performances worth remembering, especially their five years of Fireworks Spectacular held on the 4 th of the July every year at Macy’s. These performances were featured on NBC and have been fondly cherished. Some of the other memorable performances by them were, "I Love New York" and "Harlem Week". Their act at Yankees Stadium has also been quite a hit. They have been involved in past media project radio shows broadcasted nationally. They had a Musical Fare which honored American pop featuring the songs of some of the greatest artists in the history. It included songs from the well known American Greatest Songbook.
