Black Star Tickets Information

One member of the black star is Mos Def who before he became a part of the group had become a successful musician on his own. He considers himself lucky to be born in a time when America was going through the hip hop revolution. And growing up in the Brooklyn neighborhood in New York, he was right in the middle of it. So it should come as no surprise that he was rapping at the age of six as he was exposed to this kind of music at a very early age. Despite being from a family with conservative background as his father was a Muslim he faced no resistance from his parents when he showed interest in pursuing music as a career. In High School his major was in musical theater and even after graduating he kept practicing his craft.
During the mid nineties, together with his younger brother and sister, he started a musical group by the name of Urban Thermo Dynamics. They signed up with Payday Records, released two singles. But this joint venture couldn’t move any further than this and was discontinued even before the release of their debut album. Mos Def started to work on his solo career and released his first single Universal Magnetic which made him a big name in the underground music scene. Before becoming a part of the Black Star, he had collaborated with other music artistes like Kanye West, De la Soul and Native Tongues Posse. He continued to do so even later in his career. On his own he has released four studio albums as a solo music artist Black On Both Sides, The New Danger, True Magic and The Ecstatic . He has been nominated for Grammy Award on several occasions. In addition to being a famous musician, he is a successful actor and has been nominated for an Emmy Award for his role in Something The Lord Made .

The other member of the Black Star group is Talib Kweli, who was also born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. But unlike his other band member he had a very different upbringing, as both his parents were highly qualified and placed a lot of importance on formal education. Kweli was a student of Experimental Theatre at NYU roughly around the same time that Mos Def was studying there. He was also friends with band members of Native Tongues Posse since High School, a group Mos Def has collaborated with on several occasions in his career. Kweli started his musical career around the mid 90s and created music in collaboration with Mood and DJ Hi-Tek. Together with Hi-Tek he released Reflections Eternal and Train of Thought . He has also released music as a solo artist. So far he has released five albums Qulaity, The Beautiful Struggle, Right About Now, Eardrum and Gutter Rainbows which was released earlier this year. His sound and music is very different and more mainstream and commercial in these albums than what he did on Black Star.

At the upcoming concert featuring Black Star fans can expect to hear different songs from their album Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star like Definition, Respiration, Brown Skin Lady, Thieves in the Night and Twice Inna Lifetime . Also there is a strong chance that both stars would perform some songs from their solo albums. And if the fans are in luck they would get to hear some songs from the upcoming album by the band. If you want to experience the music of the two most talented and creative hip hop musicians America has seen in a long time, then get your Black Star Tickets now.
