Anthony Hamilton Tickets Information
Hamilton hails from Charlotte, North Carolina. He made his own way to be what he is today following his passion for music. It was a passion evident at an early age when Hamilton was only ten and released his musical abilities. At that time he began singing in the local church. At his South Mecklenburg High School he sang with the award winning choir and later at local night clubs and talent shows he practiced his musical skills.
When Hamilton headed to New York City he signed with Uptown Records and hence his musical struggles began. When he was all set to release his debut album with the label Uptown Records, the company went out of business. Hamilton then signed with MCS and recorded his album, XTC in 1996 that received little promotion. He then moved to the label Soulife and continued to make guest appearances on songs and contributed background vocals on D’Angelo’s worldwide Voodoo tour. The tour was a good experience, but when he returned from the pleasant tour he heard the discouraging news of Soulifes’ bankruptcy. The 1990s was a struggling phase during which two of Anthony Hamilton’s albums went unreleased but the singer never gave up. The next years were spent in selling songs and singing for backup artists.
The next decade however proved to be lucky for him. In 2002 Hamilton finally received the break and gained attention for the infectious chorus on Nappy Roots' 2002 Po' Folks. It got him a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in 2003. Hamilton achieved the big breakthrough and success with his second studio album titled Comin' from Where I'm From released in 2003. The album was released with Arista Records and went on to be platinum. It debuted at number thirty-three on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and at number seven on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album featured the two popular singles that include the title song Comin' from Where I'm From and the chart topping Charlene.
