The Backyard Tickets Information
Backyard Babies
Now located in Stockholm, Sweden, the hard/punk rock band preceded any recent ‘rock revival’ when they were formed back in 1989 in Nässjö, Sweden by guitarist Dregen; singer Tobbe, bassist Johan Blomqvist and drummer Peder Carlsson completed the early line-up of the band, though Tobbe was replaced two years later by Nicke Borg, and this is the line-up which exists to this day.
After a national tour, Backyard Babies debuted in 1991 with a quite collectable five track entitled 'Something to Swallow'. Signing with the Megarock label in 1993, the following year the foursome issued their first debut album, 'Diesel and Power', after which Dregen involved himself as a member of another rock band The Hellacopters. With this act Dregen featured on two albums, 'Supershitty to the Max!' and 'Payin' the Dues'. In addition to the album the band also released the 'Electric Suzy' single through Megarock, which contained a cover of Hanoi Rocks' 'Taxi Driver', a band Backyard Babies had often been compared to. In February 1995 Backyard Babies opened Scandinavian shows for Monroe's then act Demolition 23.
After splitting from Megarock Records, the band signed up with MVG Records. This gave a considerable boost to their stocks during the latter half of 1997 with the release of a brand new mini-album 'Knockouts'. The real breakthrough came in 1998 with the release of their album, ‘Total 13’ now considered a glam punk classic. It was greeted by strong critical acclaim from the British media. Since then there is no looking back for the band. Besides, supporting Motörhead in the UK during May 2001, their new album “Making Enemies Is Good” and 2003’s “Stockholm Syndrome” earned Backyard Babies a Swedish Grammy and were viewed by some fans as a return towards what the Backyard Babies stands for; more energetic and raw. After that they opened their European tours, thus cementing the band’s reputation as a force to be reckoned with.
In 2005 Backyard Babies again turned heads when they toured alongside Social Distortion in Europe and the U.S. ‘Live Live in Paris’ which was recorded during the same tour before a sold-out French crowd, provides a memorable snapshot of the booze-fueled gutter rock that's earned the quartet worldwide acclaim.
The Babies new album entitled “People Like People Like People Like Us” produced by Nicke Andersson, guitarist from The Hellacopters, epitomizes what rock is all about and gives listeners a few new sonic treats in the process.
