Shoreline Amphitheatre Tickets Information
Shoreline Amphitheatre – an outdoor amphitheater, located in Mountain View, California, USA, in the San Francisco Bay Area, resting on over 60 acres in the heart of Silicon Valley around 10 miles north of San Jose and 35 miles south of San Francisco, possesses one of the worlds largest tent structures, high-tech audio and video systems, and obliging, affable staff taking care of the comfort of the visitors.
The amphitheatre has an availability of 22,000 with 6500 reserved seats and remaining are unreserved lawn seats. This magnificent place was constructed in 1985-86 by the city of Mountain View in collaboration with local businessman Bill Graham. In the summer of 1986, its premier took place with Julio Iglesias. Each row of fixed seating at the amphitheatre has a pitch of three feet providing ample legroom.
In its inaugural year, during the Steve Winwood concert, a fan was reported to have flicked a cigarette lighter and ignited methane that had been leaking from a landfill beneath the theatre. A number of small fires were reported that season. After those episodes, the city of Mountain View authorized methane testing studies to define the location of methane vapors that originated from the soil within the Shoreline Amphitheater. These tests were used in building a design for enhanced methane monitoring and more economical methane extraction to ascertain that the amphitheater is a safe venue. Eventually the entire lawn had to be removed to allow the fixing up of a gas barrier and also advanced methane removal equipment.
Every June the venue hosts local radio station Live 105's BFD concert. The Download Festival's San Francisco show is also held at Shoreline.
It has also been the site of almost all Bridge School Benefit show except one.
For convenience of the guests, a parking area has been provided with an ostensible parking fee of $6.00 per ticket for most concerts. PREMIER PARKING, the closest parking with the fastest access to the highways, is also available for a charge of $20. Premier Parking may be purchased in advance through Ticketmaster or on site when available. Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View also provides the wheelchair accessible seating which accommodates a range of height needs so that wheelchair users can see the stage.
