Home to the New Mexico Scorpions of the Central Hockey League, Santa Ana Star Center is a versatile arena having a capacity of 8,000 people in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, a suburb of Albuquerque. The New Mexico Scorpions of the Central Hockey League and a possible expansion team in af2, a division of the Arena Football League. The af2 franchise is owned partially by Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher. previously, the arena was known as Rio Rancho Events Center.
The arena was completed at a cost of $47 million USD and inaugurated on October 21, 2006. The Scorpions played their first home game there on October 27, falling to the Arizona Sundogs 3-1 in front of a sellout crowd.
In July 2006, a $2.5 million deal was signed and consequently, Santa Ana Star Casino purchased the naming rights to the arena in this five-year deal.
Santa Ana Star Center is situated near the intersection of Unser Boulevard and Paseo del Volcan.
The Santa Ana Star Center is a fundamental feature of the City of Rio Rancho's new master planned downtown surrounding 160 acres. The facility has 26 luxury suites, 500 club seats, VIP lounge, club lounge and 4 club suites and is undoubtedly, a versatile place, providing all the possible amenities and capable of hosting a variety of events ranging from trade shows, conventions, graduations, performing arts, concerts, sporting events, youth sports, thrill shows and family events.
VIP Lounges which include the club and the suites, with a capacity of around which hold upto 40-60 people costs $75 per hour or $500 for the day from 7:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m.
Conference Room, which accommodates around 20 people, costs $75 per hour or $500 for the day from 7:00 a.m. between 6:00 p.m.
For Birthday Party's, one can avail the Upstairs Lounge area, costs around $75 per hour includes visit from Area rental, visit from Stanley, & Happy Birthday of video board. No outside food or beverage.
Ice Time costs $200 per hour.
