Based on the design created by Odell Associates, the construction for the Florence Civic Center began in May 1991 and was completed more than two years later at a cost of $ 22 million. Owned by the City of Florence and the respective County, the Florence Civic Center has been home to the minor league ice hockey teams of Pee Dee Pride from 1997-2005 and Pee Dee Cyclones from 2005-2007 as well as AIFA's indoor football team of Florence Phantoms from 2007-2009.
