The Congress Theatre is a beautiful piece of architecture located in the town of Cwmbran in south Wales. It is a basic community centre located in Torfaen.The theatre building is a part pf the Cwmbran Shopping Centre. It was established in the 1950s.There is a large clock along with two figures of Dai and Myfanwy on the front part of the shopping centre.

General Facilities
The main auditorium has quite a good space and there are various plays, concerts and other shows being held there. The theatre has a café cum bar linked to it providing chance for the attendants to have various refreshments There is a drawback as the theatre has a little space backstage as compared to others in the suburbs. The left wing is quite small there is a green room but it has no value as it does not provide the comfort of having enough space to the performers.

Kinds of Performances
There are different kinds of performances being held there by number of musical groups as well as the theatre groups. The most frequent performance is seen being played there is by the Cwmbran Woodland Players and the Congress Youth Theatre.

Present Status
It was closed in the mid 90s due to lack of resources for its running but re-opened at later. It had earned a lot after its re-opening with respect to variety of shows and performances. But on the whole every visitor as well as the performer there feels the necessity of finding more of facilities in order to make it a most valuable theatre of the whole area. Lot of renovation has been already done but there is a definite room for improvement.
