Bluebird Theater Tickets Information
The Bluebird Theater was built in 1913. The theater was initially a movie house and went through various phases over the years. It was originally named after the prominent Denver grocer and druggist, John Thompson. The Theater was renamed in 1922 and became an important part of the community. In 1994, Chris Swank and a business partner invested in the Bluebird and it re-opened as the heart throbbing arena for rock music. Renovated in the early 20th century, the theater was restored with frescos and statues. The Bluebird currently hosts both concerts and film presentations.
The theater is laid out in three tiers with a bar at the top and a balcony overlooking the entire theater. Seating and tables are arranged according to the type of entertainment being offered. These go fast for the more popular shows but for the desperate ones, there's always the balcony! A diverse range of entertainers have performed at the Bluebird from the mellow jazz violinist Jean Luc-Ponty to such acts as Oasis, Creed, Beth Orton, Cowboy Junkies, and The Vines.
Originally built as the Thompson Theater, the blond-brick, Beaux-Arts Mediterranean Revival was designed by Harry W. J. Edbrooke. Renamed the Bluebird Theater in 1922 and promoted Depression-era patronage with "Bank Night" giveaways of cash and commodities. Became skinflick theater in 1974; restored as trendy cabaret in 1987.
The Bluebird Theater box office opens 30 minutes before any show. All shows are 16+ unless otherwise noted. Camera policies are different for every concert. It is best to contact the theatre on the day of the show to find out what the camera policy will be for that night. No outside food or beverages are allowed into the theatres. No weapons of any kind are allowed into the venue. For the safety of our guests, all patrons may be searched upon entry to the Bluebird Theater.
Parking for the Bluebird Theater is located across the street in the Paradise Cleaners parking lot. If this lot is full, street parking is available on Colfax Avenue, 16th street and 14th street. Adams and Cook streets are residential parking with permit.
