ARCO Arena
ARCO Arena is an indoor arena located in Sacramento, California, United States. At a cost of just $40 million, Arco Arena was completed in 1985 with entirely private funding to temporarily accommodate the NBA's Sacramento Kings, who had relocated from Kansas City.
At present, Arco Arena seats 17,317 for basketball, and has 30 luxury suites and 412 club seats. ARCO Arena is home to the Sacramento Kings of the NBA and the WNBA's Sacramento Monarchs. Also, it has twice been host to the NCAA Western Regional Men's Basketball Tournament.
After nearly 20 years of its opening, Arco Arena is now the second-oldest non-renovated NBA venue in the nation. The arena is note for its loudest NBA arena and continual at-capacity crowds, which, combined with wood floors, make it a tough environment for visiting teams. The arena has hosted the NCAA Tournament four times as a first and second rounds venue in 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2007. The arena also hosted several NHL exhibition and neutral site games in 1993 and 1994. It played host to the Ultimate Fighting Championship's UFC 65 on November 18, 2006. It also is a regular stop for World Wrestling Entertainment events, including two pay-per-views (Royal Rumble 1993 and Judgment Day 2001).
The energy company ARCO, also the sponsor of the arena, has had corporate sponsorship since the arena's inception as well as the original ARCO Arena. On March 19, 2007, the Maloof brothers announced a multi-year agreement extension of the naming rights of ARCO Arena.
With nearly 200 spectator events each year, ARCO Arena is one of the busiest buildings of its kind in the United States. Nearly 2 million fans from throughout Northern California visited ARCO Arena last year for events ranging from NBA and WNBA basketball to Disney on Ice. The cost for general parking at all Sacramento Kings games, Monarchs games and all other ARCO Arena events is $10.00. Concession stands featuring traditional ballgame fare such as hot dogs, chicken tenders, popcorn, and pretzels are easily accessible throughout the ARCO Arena concourse.
