The basic aims of these two people was to create a TV show that would make use of addictive qualities of TB in a better and productive way – by doing good with these qualities in ways such as helping children prepare for their school education. They therefore embarked on a two year research program via the formation of the Children’s Television Workshop which then received a $8 Million grand from three parties; the Carnegie Foundation, the US government and the Ford Foundation so as to create the show that would be the Sesame Street.
Sesame Street underwent various changes in the course of its broadcast – it changed with the change of American norms such as the employment of women and minorities in the show as the American culture itself changed. As such, the shows success went well into the 1980s, after which the US government dropped its funding of the show. CTW, the producers of the Sesame Street, then looked at other ways of funding the show through magazines, book royalties, products, merchandise and foreign income. The show itself started covering a larger number of topics that included ethics and emotions as well as storylines taken from the personal experiences of the crew.
