National Collegiate Athletic Association known as NCAA organizes and manages the athletic programs of many colleges and universities in U.S.A and organizes various national championships. Out of them, UCLA stands out by winning 107 NCAA team championships. They have also won 128 national team championships and their record has beaten the rest of the universities in U.S.A. In 1920, UCLA Bruins men’s Basketball program was established whereas; UCLA Bruins women Basketball program was established in 1974. Their men’s team has won eleven national titles and another interesting thing is that 78 former players of basketball team have gone on to play in the National Basketball Associations (NBA) seasons.

Their football program known as UCLA Bruins football has also witnessed success a number of times. Associated Press College Poll was initiated in 1930 and UCLA Bruins have the privilege of being amongst the top ten universities at least once every decade since then. Four national championships have been won in 1985, 1990, 1997 and 2002 by UCLA Bruins men’s soccer team. In 2008, Pacific 10 Conference Championship was also won by the university’s soccer team. However, the women soccer team has better record in Pacific 10 Conference Championship as compared to their men’s counterpart because they have managed to win the championship on eight different occasions. UCLA Bruins Softball team has been the NCAA Champions on eleven occasions. Natasha Watley, Andrea Duran, Dot Richardson and Lisa Fernandez have been the famous former stars for the university. Sixteen national championships and thirty six Pacific 10 Conference championship titles have been won by UCLA Bruins men’s tennis team. Stella Sampras who is sister of Pete Sampras was the coach of women tennis team in 2008, when they won the national championship for the very first time. UCLA Bruins also holds significant championship records in track and field.

UCLA Bruins use deep sky blue referred as UCLA Blue and sun gold referred as UCLA Gold for their school colors. They use Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California for their home games which is an outdoor athletic stadium. The other home venue used by UCLA Bruins is Pauley Pavilion which is an indoor stadium and is used for women’s gymnastics, volleyball and basketball men’s and women’s team. Steele Field at Jackie Robinson Stadium is used for baseball games. They use a brown bear named as Joe and Josephine Bruin as their official mascot along with a cheering squad, a dance team and a yell crew for entertaining their supporting crowds.
