Stockton California welcomed the Stockton Thunder in 2005, to become its representative in minor league professional ice hockey. The team had a franchise history dating back to 1990. They began as the Cincinnati Cyclones, relocated to Birmingham to become Birmingham Bulls. Before coming to Stockton California the team was known as Atlantic City Broadwalk Bullies. The team is a part of the Western Conference of the Eastern Division of the ECHL. SC Hockey Franchise Corp owns the Stockton Thunder. The team is headed by Coach Matt Thomas while Jason Morgan performs as the team captain. Stockton Thunder also has San Jose Sharks and the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL as its league affiliates.
