This team is known for finishing in 1st or 2nd place in every season, apart from 2005 when they had to settle for 3rd place. Along with the fencing squads, their coach, Emmanuil G. Kaidanov, is also highly regarded.
The women's soccer team is known to be particularly strong. Its program has succeeded in winning nine consecutive Big Ten Championships.
