The Ottawa Senators are called Les Sénateurs d'Ottawa in French. They are an ice hockey team that play in the professional circuit. The new Senators could be described as a limited partnership between Terrace Investments and community ownership. Terrace Investments could not shoulder the whole cost. Apart from this company, Ottawa Nepean Canadians Sports Club managed to attain control of 48% of the club. In the new era, the Senators played their first match on October 8, 1992. This match was played at the Ottawa Civic Centre versus the Montreal Canadiens.

For the new millennium, Yashin performed. However, the captaincy was taken away from Yashin. In an exchange with the New York Islanders, he was traded for Zdeno Chara. The Senators stood 3rd by the end of the 2001-02 season [in the Northeast division]. During the playoffs, the Senators beat the Philadelphia Flyers in five games. During the 2006-07 season and playoffs, the Senators got off to a poor start. Up till December, they had a 21-18-1 record. Trough the remainder of the season, their performance improved, and finished in second place of the division. Ottawa acquired centre Mike Comrie on January 3, 2007. Prior to joining the Senators, Comrie was with the Phoenix Coyotes.
