It will continue for the next three weeks.

The Houston Stock Show and Livestock Exposition began in January of 1931. The first show was held at the Democratic Convention Hall in April,1932. Gene Autry has the honor of becoming the first entertainer who takes the stage in 1942. In 1961, the official name of the show is changed to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo moved to the Astrodome complex in 1966. Previousl, these events were being held at Same Houston Colisum. The shows organizers also built the Livestock Exposition Building in the Astrohall the same year.

Over the years, numerous students in the Houston area have received scholarships for their work in FFA and 4-H programs that coincide with the annual livestock show at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. With the passage of time, the Show has become very much popular and has been successful in attracting a huge number of audiences for its wide range of events.
