Honduras the second largest of the central American countries. Honduras has a small population of about 3.7 million. The country is bordered by three major countries. In the west by Guatemala, to the southwest by el Salvador, to the southeast by Nicaragua.

The Honduras was ruled by the Spanish for approximately three centuries. During this time period, an interesting fact was observed, i.e. a clock built was transferred to a cathedral and is now said to be the oldest clock built in the twelfth century.

Spain had granted independence to Honduras. Along with the rest of the Central American provinces.

And in the year 1822, the united American provinces decided to join the newly declared Mexican Empire of Iturbide, which was over thrown a year after the Honduras gained independence and the central America parted from it forming the Federal Republic of Central America which resulted in the states of the American republic becoming independent nations.

Silver mining was a key factor in the Spanish conquest and settlement of Honduras, how ever, it is said to be the only part of the national economy in recent years.

Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Honduras joined the Allied Nations on a December of the 1990's. A year later, the Honduras signed the declaration of the United nation alond with 25 other Government states.

Honduras has rain forests, cloud forests, mountain ranges with pine and oak trees. In the Bay Islands there are bottlenose dolphins, manta rays, parrot fish, schools of blue tang and whale shark which is has both good and bad consequences for the visitors who tend to visit the Bay Islands to be a part of the soothing sea and cold summers.
