Frozen Fenway Tickets Information

Frozen Fenway is a winter sport event held at the Fenway Park located in Boston, Massachusetts. The Fenway Park serves as the home ground of the “Boston Red Sox” baseball club. It is considered as one of the most well known sports venues of the world. It has been home to a number of sports, most notably football, soccer, baseball and hockey. Frozen Fenway tickets for the 2012 season are now available.

Frozen Fenway is part of the NHL Winter Classic. This event is home to winter sport such as hockey, figure skating, ice dancing, and curling. The main event is the college hockey. College hockey teams from the local region and college and universities of other regions take part in it. Participating teams include University of Massachusetts Amherst, University of New Hampshire, Northeastern University, Boston University, University of Vermont, University of Maine and Boston College. Frozen Fenway consists of two parts; the hockey games take place in the first part after which the rink is opened for the public to ice skate.

Hockey events such are believed to have existed since 1875. They were then held outdoors on frozen lakes and rivers. Eventually, hockey was moved indoors as well. In 1920, it became an Olympic sport. But throughout history, many hockey events have taken place in the outdoors. A number of world championships and NHL sponsored games have followed suit. The Frozen Fenway has again revived the outdoor hockey events in college hockey.

This revival has proven to be very popular with hockey fans. In 2003, the Heritage Classic winter event had an attendance request of over 900,000 for their 57,167 seat venue. Similarly, “Hockey Night in Canada” received over 2.7 million views and a record rating for the television show. Since then, Winter Classics have, too, become a hugely popular televised series that garner approximately 4.56 million people between the ages of 18 and 49 each year.

Moreover, Frozen Fenway has helped in making hockey popular in the United Stated. Before the Winter Classics, it was believed to be a sport popular only in Canada. The series have paved the way for even more college sport and sporting events. Frozen Fenway tickets and schedule for the 2012 season have been announced.

Fenway Sports Management announced that this year the event will be known as Sun Life Frozen Fenway 2012, and will take place over the course of 16 days. This will consist of eight high school hockey games, six college hockey games of both men and women, and two days for the free community skate. It is being sponsored by Sun Life Financial, the Red Sox, as well as the Hockey East Association.

The event will begin with the “Mayor’s Community Skate Day.” This will be an entire day of free public skating. The high school hockey games will follow and will last for two days. Then the College hockey will begin, starting with the women’s teams. The event will close with another “Mayor’s Community Skate Day.”
