The Panthers were once again involved in exchanging the players on June 23rd, 2006, with the Vancouver Canucks by sending Roberto Loungo, Lucas Krajicek and a sixt round draft pick against Todd Bertuzzi, Alex Auld and Bryan Allen wth Bertuzzi later sent to Detroit Red Wings. Criticisms rose against this move calling it the worst trade in history of NHL. Bertuzi was exchanged against the centre player Shawn Matthias and a conditional draft pick.

The Florida Panthers signed Tomas Vokoun from Nashville Predators as an exchange for three draft picks, a first and second round picks in 2008 and a conditional second round pick that could be taken in 2007 or 2008, in another draft day deal on June 22nd, 2007, which involved a goalie.

During the first interval of a Panthers Alumni game on July 22nd, 2007 at the bank Atlantic Center, over 11,000 fans witnessed the undraping of the New Jerseys of the team.
