History:
FC Dallas was established in 1996. Since its creation till 2002, it played its matches at the Cotton Bowl. Due to monetary reasons and a problem with its lease, FC Dallas played its home games at the Dragon Stadium during 2003. This stadium was a high school one located in Southlake. The club moved back to playing at the Cotton Bowl in 2003 because of its fans. Another reason for moving back was because of the limited earning opportunity at the high school stadium, where alcohols sale was not permitted.

By August 2005, the club moved to Pizza Hut Park. This was a soccer specific stadium that suited the team. This was the time that the team decided to call itself the FC Dallas.

During the 2006 season, Hoops Nation was established. This was an official supporters' club that permitted fans to obtain a t-shirt, 2 free tickets annually, and other benefits. All this was obtainable for a membership fee. FC Dallas works along with the supporters' group, and offers discounted tickets to a special section in the group.

The two teams compete for the El Capitan, which is a cannon that is rewarded to the regular season victor. Animosity has also sparked between fans and players of the Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas. Partner teams:
FC Dallas and the Tigers will work to build their youth academies. Through associating the youth teams there is more to gain. There will be an annual competition at each teams home location. There will also be combined community efforts in the form of community clinics. This will help the markets on both sides for promoting the sport. The combined team will also play matches at home and away for the Rio Grande Plate.

FC Dallas also struck a deal with Atlético Paranaense, a Brazilian Série A team. This is expected to include a home-and-away series of matches to be played between the two clubs in 2007. The two clubs can also loan players to each other. FC Dallas will further benefit through this partnership because it will learn about the youth players development process.

There are also some joint projects that the two clubs plan to work together on.
