Cleveland Browns Tickets Information

Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns-a professional American football team located in Cleveland, Ohio. The team is at present members of the Northern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). They started playing in 1946 as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference and joined the NFL in 1950 after the AAFC combined into the older league. The Browns has won 4 AAFC titles and 4 NFL Championships.

In 2006 on the 11th of March , Browns signed Joe Jurevivius a free-agent wide receiver from the Seattle Seahawks, LeCharles Bentley, offensive lineman from the New Orleans Saints and Kevin Shaffer, offensive lineman from the Atlanta Falcons. The team thought the addition of Jurevicius, Bentley and Shaffe can aid establishing a stronger offensive line to protect quarterback Charlie Frye. The very next day that is on March 12, the team signed punter Dave Zastudil from the Baltimore Ravens. And on March 15, 2006, they signed a free agent LB Willie McGinest from the New England Patriots, wishing that his guidance will grant interior defense for the franchise.

In the year of 2006 NFL Draft, the Browns took their first victory against the Ravens on Florida St. DE Kamerion Wimbley. Then there was the second victory that was against the Saints on Maryland LB D'Qwell Jackson. The rest of the victories counting Oklahoma WR Travis Wilson, University of Miami(Fl.) LB Leon Williams, Indiana Guard Isaac Sowells, Washington St. RB Jerome Harrison, Georgia CB DeMario Minter, Colorado Fullback Lawrence Vickers, and Stanford DT Babatunde Oshinowo.

Ken Dorsey and Kellen Winslow couldn?t play in the 2005 season due to a motorcycle injury. Pro Bowl Center LeCharles Bentley was inflicted by a season-ending knee injury in Training Camp On July 27, 2006. This was an enormous loss for the Browns as the team was counting on him to help strengthen their offensive line to protect Charlie Frye and also assist the running game production, since there were only 4 rushing touchdowns by the Browns in 2005.

Amazingly enough ?The Browns? are the only team in NFL that does not possess a logo on their helmets. Though this doesn?t mean that the team is without logo, there have been various logos over the years like "Brownie Elf" mascot (a logo that Art Modell changed in the mid-1960, but the former logo has been revived under the present ownership.) Actually the Brown "B" in a white football and the club's orange "logo-less" helmet has emerged as a key hallmark. It only happened once that The Browns had a logo on their helmets during only one preseason game against Green Bay in 1965; the logo was a brown "CB". (This ?CB? was the logo that Art Modell replaced with "Brownie Elf" mascot.).

The uniform of the team since 1946 persistently remained the same. Nevertheless, the team initially wore white helmets before the orange ones (with a white center stripe.) in 1952 full time. In the seasons of 1950 & '51, the team wore white helmets during the daylight games and used plain orange helmets at night because of the rule of NFL that restricted the use of white or any light colored helmets for night games due to the lighting plus the use of a white football for night games. For the night games, the Browns also tried out silver game pants in the 1950 & '51 seasons, and the third change was that orange jersey for night games in the 1954 season. For the period of 1957 to 1961, the numbers of the players were on their helmet?s side. In 1960, The Browns got the brown-white-brown stripe sequence on the helmets.

The design of the uniforms basically comprises of white pants, orange and brown trim, and either brown (officially "seal brown") or white jerseys. With the passage of time, there came minor changes to the sleeve stripes, the most recent change was the addition of the initials "AL" to tribute the 2002 death of Al Lerner, who assisted to revive the team in 1999. The team wore orange pants from the year of 1975 to 1983 and irregularly in 2003 and 2004. The orange jersey was introduced in 2002.

It is said that in 2006, the team will slip back to the old uniform style that include gray face masks, original stripe pattern on the brown jersey sleeves (whereas white jersey has had that sleeve stripe pattern on a constant basis since the season of 1985) plus the previous, darker shade of brown. Cleveland Browns will wear just the white pants and orange jerseys will be discontinued to wear.
