Chilliwack Bruins Tickets Information
Chilliwack Bruins
Junior hockey team of the Western Hockey League, namely The Chilliwack Bruins, based out of Chilliwack, British Columbia, plays at Prospera Centre, which was expanded to 5,000 seats for the arrival of the Bruins. Their opening game in the WHL took place during the 2006-2007 session.
In 2005, the city of Chilliwack was granted a WHL expansion team after an effort made by the owners of the Tri-City Americans (Brian Burke, Glen Sather and Darryl Porter) in order to shift move the Americans to Chilliwack.
Consequently, Burke, Sather, and Porter sold their stake in the Americans and purchased the 21st franchise in the WHL. The advent of the Bruins transferred the BCHL's Chilliwack Chiefs, who repositioned to Langley to become the Langley Chiefs.
Under the leadership skills of General Manager Darrell May and the team's first head coach, Jim Hiller, the Bruins' opening season ended up with a fine result overall. With a general record of 25-40-5-2, the Bruins made it to the post-season attaining the third best general record for an expansion team in the "Dub". In the 2007 playoffs, the Bruins played the Vancouver Giants in the first round and lost the series 4-1.
The first game ever won by Bruins throughout the franchise history was against the Kelowna Rockets played on September 21, 2006, defeating by a score of 3-1 infront of spectators around 5,100. Keith Voytechek scored the first goal in franchise history and Alex Archibald was the first goalie to record a win.
On October 28, 2006, Alex Archibald became the first Bruins goaltender to record a lock out with a 3-0 win over the Tri-City Americans, marking another achievement in the franchise history.
Mark Santorelli was named the WHL Player of the week, becoming the first ever Bruin to be given this honour.
First Chilliwack Bruins hat-trick was scored by Josh Aspenlind, Friday February 23, 2007 against the Kamloops Blazers
On September 29, 2007, the Bruins against their game with the Prince George Cougars, ended up with a tie, maintaining a record for most goals in a period, with 5 in the first twenty minutes of play.
Mark Santorelli made a team record for most points by an individual player in a period on September 29, 2007, when he recorded one goal and two assists in the first period.
The fastest two goals scored by the Bruins were only 14 seconds apart when Ken Petkau's marker followed up Mark Santorelli's goal during a game vs. the Prince George Cougars on September 29, 2007.
