Buffalo Bandits Tickets Information
When it comes to Lacrosse, the team to watch out for this season is the Buffalo Bandits. They are one of the best teams in the sport and Buffalo Bandits tickets are some of the hottest commodities!
The Buffalo Bandits are the members of the National Lacrosse League. They are based in Buffalo, New York. They were established in 1992 as members of the Major Indoor Lacrosse League. They remained the members of MILL till 1997 when MILL re-established as National Lacrosse League in 1998. The Bandits’ owners are Hockey Western New York LLC which is headed by Terrence Pegula who is also the owner of the Buffalo Sabres. The Bandits used to share their home ground, Buffalo Memorial Auditorium, with the Sabres until 1996. After the expansion, they shifted to their current home ground which is the First Niagara Center.
From their very first game, the Buffalo Bandits proved themselves to be a team to be reckoned with. They set the record of becoming the first expansion franchise in the history of MILL/NLL to attain the championship trophy in their very first season after defeating Philadelphia Wings in a nail-biting match that ended in overtime with a score of 11-10. They repeated their excellent performance in the second season too and went on to win their second championship final against Philadelphia Wings. In 1994, the team lost in the championship match and came in second in NLL. In 1995, they lost in the divisional semi-finals. But the Bandits resurged in 1996 when they defeated their main rivals, Philadelphia Wings, 15-10. The next year, they lost the championship match from Rochester Knighthawks.
After 1997, the Buffalo Bandits experienced a slump when they, in some seasons, could not make it past the divisional semi-finals, and in others, did not even qualify for the playoffs. This changed in 2004 when with a new coach, Darris Kilgour , they won the division championship but lost the NLL Championship match against Calgary Roughnecks. Similar performance was seen in 2007 when the team lost from Colorado Mammoths 9-16 in the championship final. However, they were back to the top in 2008. That year they won the NLL title against Portland LumberJax 14-13. This year, 2011, they made it to the division finals where they lost the match to Toronto Rocks.
Overall, the Buffalo Bandits have won seven division championships and four league championships. They have consistently performed well over the years. They have also produced some of the greatest players of all times like John Tavare s who holds the records of most assists, points and goals in a career. Four of their players/members of the management have been inducted into the NLL Hall of Fame . They include Les Bartley , first coach of the club; Darris Kilgour , former player and current head coach; Tom Borrelli , the journalist who covered their games; Johnny Mouradian , their general manager 1992-97 and Jim Veltman , Bandit player 1992-98.
Watch this great team reach the top in the coming season with your Buffalo Bandits tickets!
