History
The club originated in 1886, in Woolwich, southeast London and then shifted to Arsenal Stadium, High bury. Their major competitors are Tottenham Hotspur and both the teams are fierce rivals that are competing since 1913. Managed by Arsène Wenger, the team is one of the most popular teams in England. The club was initially named as Dial Square in 1886, but was renamed Royal Arsenal after becoming a professional team in 1891. The club started playing in the second division in the Football League, in 1893. They were promoted to First Division in 1904. After various financial problems moved to the new Arsenal Stadium in High bury.

Herbert Chapman’s efforts bought the team their first big success. The club won the First Division five times in 1930 and 1938 and also won FA Cup twice. However after enjoying huge success during the initial years, the club did not perform that well during the 1950s and 1960s. However, the club won their Inter-Cities Fairs Cup for 1969–70 season. They won over Manchester United with a score of 3–2, in 1978–79. Arsenal, under the management of George Graham, won the League Cup in 1986–87, followed by a League title win in the year 1988–89. They won the 2002–03 and 2004–05 FA Cups and the Premier League in 2003–04 without a single miss. The Arsenal Football Club is the only club to advance for the Champions League quarterfinals in 2005–06.

After a lean period in the post-war years they became only the second club of the 20th century to win the Double in 1970–71. Arsenal have won two more Doubles and won the Premier League in 2003–04 unbeaten, and in 2005–06 became the first London club to reach the UEFA Champions League final. The club joined the Football League in 1893, starting out in the Second Division, and won promotion to the First Division in 1904. Henry Norris sought to move the club elsewhere, and in 1913, soon after relegation back to the Second Division, Arsenal moved to the new Arsenal Stadium in High bury, North London; they dropped "Woolwich" from their name the following year. Arsenals only finished in fifth place in 1919, but nevertheless were elected to rejoin the First Division at the expense of local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal won a second league and cup double in 1997–98 and a third in 2001–02. In addition, the club reached the final of the 1999–00 UEFA Cup, was victorious in the 2002–03 and 2004–05 FA Cups, and won the Premier League in 2003–04 without losing a single match, which earned the side the nickname "The Invincibles". Arsenal has finished in either first or second place in the league in eight of Wenger's eleven seasons at the club. They are one of only four teams to have won the Premier League since its formation in 1993, although they have failed to retain the title each time they have been champions. Until recently, Arsenal had never progressed beyond the Champions League quarter-finals; in 2005–06 however, they reached the competition's Final, the first club from London to do so in the competition's fifty-year history, but were beaten 2–1 by FC Barcelona.
