Everybody has been calling the Maine as the new face of rock music in America. And the group has received immense critical and commercial praise for their music. Their fan base has increased tremendously over the few years they have been active and most analysts are calling them the success story of the decade. The band has proved to be a strong defense for rock music in the face of pop invasion by artistes like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber. And their one hit single after another has managed to keep their fans wanting for more. But now it seems as if the prayers of the fans have been answered as the band has announced they are going on a nationwide tour and would be performing at venues in all the major cities. There is tremendous excitement and hype surrounding their upcoming tour which is easily the musical event everybody is planning to attend this summer.
At the moment the Maine is being managed by Tim Kirch who also happens to be the elder brother of the drummer for the group. He is the one responsible for their finances, TV and club appearances, press releases and merchandising deals. They have signed a contract with music company Action Theory to release their albums under the parent company of Warner Bros Records. Currently the band has five active members who are equally responsible for the success and fame of the group. John O' Callaghan is the main vocalist and the sound behind most of their songs. He is supported by Kennedy Brock who provides backup vocals and is also the rhythm guitarist for the group. But much of the rock feel in most of their compositions is the work of lead guitarist Jared Monaco. Garrett Nickelsen is the guy on bass Pat Kirch is the man behind drums. Together they have managed to create a rock mania which is gripping the entire nation and has won them millions of fans the world over.
In 2007, Garrett Nickelsen was looking for like minded people to form a music band and as luck would have it, he met the Kirch brothers and together they formed a music group and decided to name it after the Ivory song Coast of Maine. Tim Kirch became the manager and Pat Kirch the drummer for the Maine. It wasn't long before John O' Callaghan joined these three as the main vocalist for the band. John was an old friend of Tim Kirch, and only agreed to come on board after his friend insisted. The other two members to join were Alex Ross and Ryan Osterman. Soon the boys were ready with their first album Stay Up, Get Down which was an EP. It was a good start for the group and they were noticed for their unique musical style. But soon after the release Ross and Osterman left the group and Jared Monaco and Kennedy Brock joined as replacement guitarists. There lineup has not changed since and each member has found a place for themselves in the band.
The maine initially signed a contract with a company called Fearless Records and released an EP album with five songs in it titled The Way We Talk. Their first complete album Can’t Talk, Won’t Talk was also released under the Fearless Records. But after the release of their third EP and A Happy New Year in late 2008, the band signed up with Warner Bros. Records in 2009. The year 2010 saw them releasing two albums Black & White and In Darkness & In Light with a gap of only a few months in between. It was recently announced that the group is now working on their fourth studio album and hopefully the fans would be able to hear them sing a few singles from their upcoming album.
The Maine are famous for collaborating with other musicians on tours and in the past have gone on tour with Boys Like Girls and The Good Charlotte . In 2010, they toured with Never Shout Never and earlier this year with Augustana. They have also performed at the Bamboozle Road Show and were the main attraction in 2009 for the Vans Warped Tour. In the upcoming concerts featuring the Maine the fans would get a chance to see them perform live such popular songs from their different albums as Everything I Ask For, Girls Do What They Want, Into Your Arms, Right Girl and Fuel to the Fire along with many other hit songs.
