Status Quo Tickets Information
Status Quo
Status Quo is a name of one of the most popular rock bands in the history of United Kingdom. The group was called The Status Quo till 1970 and changed to the present name in 1970. It was initiated by the bassist Alan Lancaster and the guitarist Francis Rossi in 1962. They were the members of the orchestra of the Sedgehill Comprehensive School in Beckenham. Their history has turned number of names before reaching to the final state.
At one stage in their career during 1967, they named it to Traffic and later to Traffic Jam as to not being confused with another famous band of the time. Their first single was a total flop on the musical scene. It was in 1968 that the band released another single "Pictures of Matchstick Men", which was an immense success and got position in the UK Top Ten. It is still considered among the top 40 ever produced in UK.
Popularity in the 70s
It is interesting to note that they din not get as much popularity in United States as they always used to enjoy in UK after 1970. They made their international appearance after merging with the heavy metal rock band "Vertigo". Although they were always popular in the UK but their latest connection got them to the new heights of success both in and out of the country. During the whole of the era of 70s, they were without doubt the reigning band in the United Kingdom.
Change in Style During 80s
Their music got a dynamic change after 1977 as it proved to be more mature and full of expression. Their producer got changed with an even more positive effect on the sale of the albums of the band. They enjoyed the same success in the 1980s era. Pete Kircher from the 1960s pop band Honeybus. This line-up played its last gig in 1984 at the Milton Keynes Bowl, although the band were contracted to record more albums. Status Quo's final appearance with the Kircher line-up was to open the Live Aid charity event at Wembley in July 1985.
Status Quo in the 2000s
Status Quo has a special group of fans still loyal to the band and they like every work by them. Their popularity still lays in the hearts of many of the Europeans especially the people of the Netherlands
There are special programs being conducted on the BBC Television focusing on the lives and work of the band members. Although they had faced a disturbance as their lead drummer had left them but still there are other members in it. They had performed in front of more than 6,300 people in July 2007 in the newly built Wembley Stadium for a concert in the memory of late Princess Diana.
Their new album 'In Search of the Fourth Chord' has been released on their own Fourth Chord label in September 2007. It all proves their energetic vitality as a rock band to have a spirit to rule on the music world even for more of a time.
