Manchester club circuit was the place the group picked repute with their wild performances. The name change was Liam's suggestion with inspiration drawn from Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon. The group first live performance took place in August 1991 at the venue Boardwalk club in Manchester. Noel Gallagher also watched the concert of his brother's group and thought of becoming a part since he had written several songs which he could contribute to this group. His inclusion proved very positive for the group. He charged his colleagues with loads of ideas providing a way forward for success. Noel infused a spirit of simplicity in the Oasiss' musical approach without any artificial focus on finesse and complex symphonies.
Creation Records co-owner Alan McGee got impressed by the group during one of its performances in May 1993. Oasiss members went to Glasgow where they were supposed to perform but were denied entrance. Yet, the stars pushed their way inside and carried out such a great show that Alan was highly impressed signing them for Creation four days later.
Oasiss did not have an altogether smooth ride. In 1994, the group was sued to pay $500,000 on account of plagiarism charges for a number "Shakermaker". However, the group flew high with songs like 'Live Forever' which was their third single entering the Top 10 of the UK charts. 'Definitely Maybe' that hit the scene in September 1994 propelled Oasiss' fame to new heights by occupying the number one slot of UK charts. Bassist Paul McGuigan dissociated himself with the band in September 1995 due to nervous fatigue. He was replaced soon by a player of another group, yet failed to carry on himself. Soon afterwards, McGuigan returned on the group's insistence to participate in a tour.
Oasiss members have moved been touring the world for their concerts. Some of their concerts include a month-long tour to Paris promoting their album Brotherly Love. Noel and two other members met with a car accident in summer 2002 but none of the band members got seriously hurt. Still some shows were cancelled as a result. The band has also been arrested after a nasty brawl at a Munich nightclub and charged with heavy drinking and use of cocaine.Oasiss is still going strong and its latest album, 'Dig Out Your Soul' (2008), has occupied number one slot in the British charts with a platinum certification. Getting tickets for one of this group's performances would guarantee you all the fun!
