Motorhead Slipknot Slayer Tickets Information

Motorhead are considered one of the key acts that injected late 70s heavy metal with some freshness. They infused elements of punk rock to inspire the birth of speed and thrash metal. Motorhead was started by Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Kilmister, bassist, singer, and songwriter for Hawkwind. In 1975, while the band was touring North America, Lemmy got involved in a cocaine possession bust, and was subsequently fired. He formed Motorhead with Pink Fairies guitarist Larry Wallis and drummer Lucas Fox. Motorhead adopted his final Hawkwind song’s name and the “power trio” lineup of lead guitarist, bassist, and drummer. Having to steal equipment for their earliest West London gigs, Motorhead were contracted to United Artists and recorded material. Yet the label was unimpressed, refusing release and blocking the single “Leaving Here” from being released by Stiff Records. Fox quit and Wallis followed suit after touring with the reunited Pink Fairies, replaced by the classic lineup of Lemmy, Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor, and “Fast” Eddie Clarke. Trapped by their label and receiving scathing reviews, they nearly called it a day, but friend Ted Carroll of Chiswick Records intervened to give them recording time at Olympic Studios as a last lifeline. Motorhead came out in August 1975. Des Moines, Iowa band Slipknot performed their first live show as Meld. They were assembled by drummer Shawn Crahan and bassist Paul Gray, but Crahan was custom percussionist by the time they recorded their first self-financed demo Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. in 1996. Late-night planning sessions at a Sinclair gas station between Gray, Crahan, and drummer Joey Jordison shaped Slipknot’s early sound, but it received limited response. Corey Taylor was recruited for sharper vocals. That turned Slipknot’s fortunes as their second five-track demo got labels interested, ending in a seven-album deal with Roadrunner Records. After yet more lineup shuffles, the eponymous debut album came out after they toured to launch it in Ozzfest 1999. Completing the Motorhead Slipknot Slayer lineup will be Slayer, which started in Huntington Park, California. In 1981, Kerry King met Jeff Hanneman at an audition, and after Tom Araya (bass) was recruited, drummer Dave Lombardo joined when barging in on a session as a pizza delivery boy. They impressed Brian Slagel, who signed Slayer to his Metal Blade Records. A rushed self-financed debut Show No Mercy followed in 1983.
The Motorhead Slipknot Slayer lineup boasts a host of fine hits. Motorhead has 30 million worldwide career sales from their 20 studio albums. The highest-charting were Ace of Spades (1980, UK #4), Iron Fist (1982, UK #6), and Kiss of Death (2006, US #10). Of the 20 singles “Motorhead” (#6) and “Ace of Spades” (#15) are the hottest. The 20 million career sales of Slipknot encompass 8 Platinum studio and video albums, with Disasterpieces (4x Platinum) being the bestselling. Iowa and All Hope is Gone topped charts in UK and USA respectively, while (sic)nesses and Disasterpieces also went #1. Slayer’s 11 albums have yielded 4 Gold releases with a highest of #2 (Germany and Finland) for Christ Illusion. Of their 23 singles, “Hate Worldwide” went #2 in 2009.
The bands are well-known for their high-octane live performances, and have toured the world over throughout their careers, raising the decibels at events like the Reading, Quart, and Download Festivals.
