The Motels are a Los Angeles-based band currently comprising of Martha Davis, as lead singer, Nick Johns as keyboardist, Brady Wills, Tig Moore and Clint Walsh as guitarist. The group that is best recognized for the hits “Suddenly Last Summer” and “Only the Lonely”, both of which climbed up to the ninth spot on Billboard Hot 100 in 1983 and 1982, respectively. Earlier, their track “Total Control” peaked at number four on Australian charts.  In 1998, lead vocalist Martha Davis formed a new version of the group titled The Motels featuring Davis. Since 2010, the singer has continued to perform under that title along with changing lineups. Over the years, the group has released eight studio albums including Little Robbers, All Four One, Careful, Motels, Shock, Apocalypso, Clean Modern and Reasonable and This, among which the former four attained the status of certified gold in either Australia or United States. Their hit singles include “Mr. Grey”, “Shame”, “Don’t Ask Out Loud”, “Little Robbers”, “Whose Problem”, “Danger”, “Days are OK”, “Forever Mine”, and “Mission of Mercy” among several others.
The Go-Go’s who will also be performing at the upcoming Totally 80s: The Go-Go’s, Psychedelic Furs, Bow Wow Wow and The Motels show, are an all-female band that was formed in 1978. The group made history as the first all-girl band to write their own music as well as to play their instruments themselves, and to reach the top spot on Billboard album charts. They gained prominence at the start of the eighties with their debut album titled Beauty and the Beast that is now considered to be among the milestone new wave in the USA. The album broke barriers, setting new trends and making way for various other types of American musical acts. In the initial phase of the album’s release, it steadily rose on the Billboard 200 chart, finally hitting the Number One spot where it stayed for six weeks back to back. Today the band is known to have sold over seven million albums. Bow Wow Wow, which will be performing in the same show, was formed by Malcolm McLaren in 1980. The band has inspired many well-recognized artists today including members of No Doubt and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their hit singles include “I Want Candy”, “I Started Something”, “The Man Mountain”, “Fools Rush In”, “Louis Quartorze”, “Chihuahua” and “Prince of Darkness”, among others.
Another group join the Motels in the Totally 80s show are the Psychedelic Furs that were formed in 1977 and currently comprise of vocalist Richard Butler and bassist Tim Butler, along with Paul Garisto, Amanda Kramer, Mars Williams, and Richard Good. Their sound went through many phases transforming from art rock to hard rock and new wave. Their hits include the songs “Pretty in Pink” and “Heartbreak Beat”, where the latter is considered to be their most successful Top 40 hit in the United States.
