Montgomery Gentry Tickets Information

Montgomery Gentry is a country music duo comprising of the vocalists Troy Gentry and Eddie Montgomery. Both are the Kentucky natives who started their careers in 1990s. Since the age of 13 Eddie has been associated with bands; the Country River Express and Harold Montgomery, his parent’s bands. At that time he was just a drummer and played at the local club scene. Eddie’s brother John Michael Montgomery had considerable success with his country music during 1990s and 2000s. It was with him that Eddie and Troy started their musical journeys as country singers.

The band was Early Tymz and was quite successful but got disbanded. The three then went on to form Young Country where John was the vocalist. Soon John left it to pursue his solo career. Gentry, too, went solo and won the National Talent Contest in 1994. Though he wanted to pursue as a solo singer, he couldn’t find a record deal and reunited with Eddie to form a duo named Deuce. They started performing at local nightclubs initially. Later, they made several changes in the name of the band and Montgomery Gentry was born in 1999. They signed with Columbia Records and released their debut in the same year. Since its formation, the band has remained quite successful in their musical journey, topping the country charts several times.

Montgomery Gentry’s first single “Hillbilly Shoes” came out in early 1999. Two weeks before its scheduled release date it was among the Billboard Country singles reaching at number 13 and number 62 on the Billboard Hot 100. Owing to the success of this first single, the band announced the release date of the debut album “Tattoos and Scars.” The album’s second single “Lonely and Gone” peaked at number 5 on the country charts, winning them their first “Vocal Duo of the Year Award” at CMA in 2000. The other nominee for this award was Brooks & Dunn who had been winning it for eight years. They became the “Top New Vocal Duo Award” at ACM and “200 Favorite New Artist” at AMA. Selling around one million copies up till 2001, this has become their first Platinum certified album. It was the duo’s great achievement and earned them many positive reviews from several entertainment magazines.

The follow-up album “Carrying On” hit the shelves in 2001. The single “She Couldn’t Change Me” peaked at number 2 on the country charts. “My Town,” the band’s third album was again certified Platinum. The big achievement of band came in 2004 and 2005 when it’s fourth album followed by its greatest hits collection “You Do Your Thing” and “Something to Be Proud of: The Best Of 1999–2005” came in the stores. Two other albums named “Some People Change” and “Back When I Knew It All” appeared in 2006 and 2008 from Columbia Records like their previous albums. However, the eighth album “Gravel Road” was the last one to come out on this record. Signing with Average Joe’s Entertainment, the band appeared on the music scene with its latest hit “Rebels on the Run” in 2011.

Apart from having considerable success with their studio albums, the band has been touring widely across the globe. In spite of all the sold out shows they have performed at and scores of awards they have won, Montgomery has remained in touch with its roots, the roots of working class. This is one reason their fans can relate to whatever they sing. According to Troy, people can relate to each and every song of Montgomery because they sing with passion and knowledge of what they are singing. With their upcoming tour, grab this chance to catch them live on stage with Montgomery Gentry tickets because hearing them live is definitely an experience worth it.
