Lyle Lovett Tickets Information
Lyle Lovett
Lyle Pearce Lovett is an American singer-songwriter. In the studio and on stage with his giant orchestra, he's spent two decades gracefully matching genuine songcraft with A-list musicianship.
Career
Lovett was born in Klein (unincorporated), Harris County, Texas on November 1, 1957. He studied German and journalism by attending Texas A&M University. He lived next-door to Robert Earl Keen.
Lovett started his music career as a songwriter. But soon MCA Records signed him in 1986 and he was successful in releasing his eponymous debut album.
The music of Lovett is broader in scope even though it is typically associated with the country genre.
Folk, swing, blues, jazz and gospel music as well as more traditional country styling are typically incorporated in his albums. The secret of Lyle Lovett's endurance comes down to the three C's: class, charisma and consistency.
Lovett has the honor of winning four Grammy Awards. These include Best Country Album (1996 for The Road to Ensenada, Best Country Duo/Group with Vocal (1994 for "Blues For Dixie" with the Texas swing group Asleep at the Wheel), Best Pop Vocal Collaboration (1994 for "Funny How Time Slips Away" with Al Green) and Best Country Male Vocal (1989) for Lyle Lovett and His Large Band).
Lovett has availed opportunities of acting in a number of films. These include Robert Altman's film The Player (1992), Short Cuts (1993)), Pret-a-Porter (1994), Cookie's Fortune (1999) and composed for Dr. T & the Women (2000) - and The Opposite of Sex starring Christina Ricci. The New Guy (2002) is his most recent film in which he has acted.
Lovett also got opportunities of acting for television. Mad About You and Dharma & Greg are his television acting forays.
Lovett's personal life is a hot topic due to his popularity and his marriage with a famous actress. He married actress Julia Roberts in 1993.The marriage could not long last. The couple divorced less than two years later, in March 1995. Lovett was then involved with April Kimble and had been dating April Kimble since 1999.
On March 28, 2002, Lovett was also in the public news when he was caught by a bull and rammed into a fence on his uncle's farm in Klein, before being pulled to safety. It took six months for Lovett's final recovery. He then started touring again in the summer of 2003.
Lovett received an Esky for Surest Thing in Esquire's 2006 Esky Music Awards in the April issue.
