Kenny Loggins or Kenneth Clark Loggins - born on January 7, 1948 in Everett, Washington, is an American singer and lyricist known for his soft rock and adult contemporary hit singles 70s. Originally a part of the duo Loggins and Messina, he has also recorded as solo artist and written hit songs for other artists.
In the early 70's he was part of the band "Gator Creek" with Mike Deasy. A version of "Danny's Song" was included on this effort on Mercury Records. Two covers Jackson Browne's "These Days" and "Don't Try to Lay no Boogie Woogie on the King of Rock and Roll" are featured as well, which was made famous by Long John Baldry.
Later, Loggins began a duo career with singer-songwriter Jim Messina as Loggins and Messina, which lasted till 1976. In 1977, Loggins released his first solo album, Celebrate Me Home, which included the hit "I Believe In Love". Nightwatch - released in 1978, included the hit "Whenever I Call You Friend", a duet with Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac. He followed this in 1979 with Keep the Fire, whose "This Is It" would be sampled by hip hop rapper Papoose for his 2005 track Cherrades.
With Michael McDonald (Doobie Brothers), Loggins also wrote the song "What a Fool Believes" of the. In addition, he wrote "Danny's Song" and "A Love Song" for Anne Murray in the 70's.
In the 80', Loggins recorded many hit songs for films, which include "I'm Alright" from Caddyshack, "Footloose" from the soundtrack of the same name, "Meet Me Halfway" from Over the Top, "Danger Zone" and "Playin' With The Boys", from Top Gun. He also performed as a representative of USA the African famine-relief fundraising single We Are The World.
Loggins list of popular albums also includes including the popular 1994 children's album, Return to Pooh Corner. Loggins also produced a song called "Forever", which would be translated into several international languages. He in time wrote 'Your Heart Will Lead You Home' (The Tiger Movie part of the Winnie-the-Pooh series 2000) with the Sherman Brothers and then performed it solo.
In 1991, Loggins released Leap of Faith- -the most important and outstanding album of his entire career, which featured the hit "Conviction of the Heart". Former Vice-President Al Gore declared this song as "the unofficial anthem of the environmental movement". Loggins performed live at The National Mall in Washington, D.C. on Earth Day in 1995.
Loggins has continued recording and producing songs for the Adult Contemporary genre in past years and scored a #1 single on Billboard's AC chart in 1997 with "For The First Time.
