Jose Jose Tickets
The dedicated fans of Jose Jose
have kept alive the magic of his phenomenal voice long after the maestro has tragically lost the use of it. Jose Jose
was a Leggiero tenor in his prime, with his scarcely believable control over the breath duration and voice even in low notes winning over countless fans. The celebrated Mexican Latin pop singer realized his great potential late after shuffling around the music industry, mastering different styles such as bossa nova and jazz and playing various instruments. Rarely has a single performance garnered such a stupendously successful response asJose’s “El Triste” set at the 1970 Latin Song Festival II. Josenever looked back thereafter, breaking into record books with intoxicating melodies on Latin albums that broke the invisible international barrier, and became raging hits in countries like Israel, Japan, and Russia. Alcoholism and an ailing health have reduced him to a handful of appearances over the past decade, but fans with Jose Jose tickets
have indicated they would trade anything to savor the undying magic of his vocals again.
Jose Jose Tickets Information
Jose Romulo Sosa Ortiz was a gifted vocalist, whose voice was tried on many genres, including pop, jazz, bossa nova (samba and jazz hybrid) and the traditional Mexican dance-friendly boleros and mariachi music. He was born in the Azcapotzalco borough of Mexico City to parents with vast exposure to music. His father was an operatic tenor while his mother was a classical pianist, but both could not make it big in their favored fields and discouraged his musical attachment. Undeterred, Jose Jose grew up engrossed in the jazz, swing and big band music of Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis and Barbara Streisand and the traditional Mexican compositions of Armando Manzanero and Consuelo Velazquez . He had to take responsibility of raising his family when his father who was an alcoholic abandoned them at age 15, beginningJose’s infatuation with drinking in earnest.
Jose started with serenades in 1963, progressing to playing bass and double bass with bossa nova and jazz band Los PGE. Switching to and fro between an unsuccessful solo attempt and Los PGE, he finally took up the name Jose Jose (the second being his father’s name) and released a critically acclaimed debut album “Cuidado” in 1969. The sweet boleros did wonders for boosting his image and then came his marquee moment. In 1970’s Latin Song Festival II,Jose’s heartrending rendition of “El Triste” drew an overwhelming response from the fans and judges (Mexican greats Angelica Maria, Marco Antonio Muniz, and Alberto Vazquez), so much so that the announcement of him getting third prize drew howls of anger. He began touring internationally and signed with Ariola Records to start the most productive period of his life.
Throughout the 80s, Jose Jose released numerous chart-topping albums like ‘Secretos’ and ‘Reflexiones’ while working with star composers like Manuel Alejandro and received countless awards. He even forged a film career, starring in big hits like Pedroname Todo and Gavilan o Paloma .
By the early 90s, his voice began to deteriorate rapidly. He was treated for vocal fold nodules, and almost lost his voice completely. Coupled with respiratory infections and alcoholism so bad he had to check into rehab,Jose never recovered his edge and has released greatest hits albums in the last decade.
Jose Jose has released 35 albums over a stellar career, including three Billboard chart toppers. La Nave del Olvido and the path-breaking El Triste were his first Gold and Platinum albums. Signing on to Ariola Records, Jose launched four successive Double Gold and Platinum albums: Reencuentro , Volcan , Lo Pasado Pasado and Si Me Dejas Ahora . The hits only increased with Amor Amor , Romantico and Mi Vida (all at least 5xGold and Double Platinum), before Secretos sent Jose’s name into orbit. It notched up a staggering 22 Gold and Platinum certifications and has sold 11 million records. Today, he is remembered for hits like “Lo Dudo”, El Triste” and “Amar y Querer”.
Jose is currently on tour with Chamin Correa, Celso Pina, Dulce, and Carlos Cuevas in the Jose Jose y sus Amigos nationwide tour. His fantastic voice, best showcased in the legendary El Triste performance, has helped sell Jose Jose Tickets to fill up arenas in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Russia, and Madison Square Garden.
