Genesis Tickets Information
Genesis
Genesis is a rock band having the honor of performing with huge success through the 1970s, 1980s, and the 1990s. The band is recognized as one of the most successful rock bands during these decades. Only the Rolling Stones and the Kinks could match the stature of Genesis. International fame Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins used the band as their launch pad.
Peter Gabriel and Tony Banks formed a band named the Garden Wall in 1965. It was the beginning of Genesis. Anthony Phillips and Michael Rutherford were the fellow students at the same Charterhouse School , Surrey. They were part of another group Anon. The two groups merged. Soon Gabriel, Rutherford , drummer Chris Stewart, Banks, and Phillips soon got together to form New Anon. A six-song demo was recorded. Rutherford and Phillips wrote the songs. The band got the break through when Jonathan King heard the tape. He was the fellow ex-student, recording artist and producer. He got the group to continue working for the studio. Jonthan King has the honor of renaming the band Genesis.
The first formal recording sessions of the group were done in 1967. Their debut single, "The Silent Sun,"
was released in the beginning of 1968d. The band saw the changing of the outgoing band members but its work on the music continued. Genesis has the distinction of becoming one of the first groups to sign up with the out of luck Charisma label. Their second album Trespass was recorded with this lable. After a couple of replacements, Phil Collins and guitarist Steve Hackett came to be part of the band. The new successes were waiting for the band and that was proved with Nursery Cryme, their next album.
In the fall of 1972, the album Foxtrot was issued. In Genesis's history, this event proved to be the flashpoint. The track "Supper's Ready," was outstanding. It exhibited a writing that was as sophisticated as any other thing in progressive rock. The lyrics were complex, serious and clever.
In late 1974, they released their double LP The Lamb Lies Down on the Broadway. The release marked the happy culmination of the group's early history. 1978 saw the release of Then There Were Three. This was a change of direction by abandoning progressive rock for a softer pop sound.
Their album We Can't Dance was released in 1991 and it was a mega hit. This album continued the magic run into the 1990s. In England, It ranked Number One while it was number four in America . It was also Collins' last album with the group. He was replaced by Ray Wilson. Genesis bounced back to fame in 1997 with Calling All Stations. This was the proof of the strength of Genesis.
