Dane Cook Tickets Information
Dane Cook
An American stand-up comedian and actor, Dane Cook has become a household name. He is best known for his comedy routines, consisting primarily of observational humor and body language. Dane is hyperactive onstage.
He has been known to wriggle all over the floor portraying a snake or an accident victim. Dane?s huge success with his second album in 2005 made him a favorite guest on network talk shows, where his delightful pranks make him an audience favorite.
His first appearance as a guest host on the stage of Saturday Night Live was one of the highest-rated episodes of the 2005-2006 season. Dane has recently performed to great acclaim before crowds of thousands in Las Vegas, Chicago and other U.S. cities.
Dane Jeffrey Cook is one of seven children (one brother, five sisters) from an Irish-Italian Catholic family. Born on March 18, 1972, in Boston, Massachusetts, Dane is the son of former radio personality, George Cook. Dane attended Arlington High School in a Boston-area suburb. Dane discovered his talent for comedy when his father gave him a tape recorder. He used to entertain the family with routines taken from his favorite TV comics. Dane?s early influences include comedic greats Bill Cosby, Johnny Carson, George Carlin, and Red Skelton.
Work Profile
Dane made his stand-up debut in 1990, and kept performing stand-up comedy on low-budget open mics and as a member of an energetic improvisational troupe called Al and the Monkeys. Five years and hundreds of shows later, he got his first big break when he landed a recurring role on Maybe This Time, a short-lived ABC sitcom starring Betty White and Marie Osmond. In 1998, Dane was featured on two comedy showcase programs on Comedy Central. He made his feature film debut in a film called ?Mystery Men? (1999). His character, ?the Waffler,? catches bad guys using a waffle iron and ?truth syrup.? In 2001, Dance launched danecook.com to further his career. In 2002 and 2003, Dane played the voices of puppets on ?Crank Yankers,? a Comedy Central show that featured re-enactments of prank phone calls.
Dane?s first comedy album, ?Harmful If Swallowed,? was released in 2003. In 2005, Dane went on his nationwide launching tour, Tourgasm, to promote his second album Retaliation that went platinum within six months and became the highest-selling comedy album in 28 years, since Steve Martin?s A Wild and Crazy Guy (1979). It also debuted at #4 on Billboard magazine's Top Albums chart. Dane?s follow-up comedy tour included three sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden?s Nokia Theater, and led to an invitation to perform a short comedy routine on MTV?s Music Video Awards later that year. Subsequently he was invited to host his own HBO Comedy Special, ?Vicious Circle,? which was the first of several projects for that network. 2006 proved to be the busiest year of Dane?s career, as he starred in six films, including Employee of the Month with Jessica Simpson, Farce of the Penguins, Mr. Brooks, Good Luck Chuck, Transformers, and Dan in Real Life. Cook issued his third comedy album, Rough Around the Edges in front of tens of thousands of his adoring fans at the main arena of Madison Square Garden in Fall 2007.
Dane?s Style
Cook draws his humor from many different aspects. He pulls from his youth and experiences of a semi-drunken father. He pontificates on relationships, sex and the personal quirks that everyone can relate to. He even delivers classic one-liners: ?Here's when you know you're drunk: when you get into a taxi cab and you think the fare is the time, Oh my God, it's 25 past 24.
His stand-up act fills arenas and grand halls. As an actor, he's currently starring in major films Good Luck Chuck and Dan in Real Life. You couldn't miss him on television this fall with his Major League Baseball playoff promos; his comedy albums sell by the platinum barrel-full; and he's an online sensation.
Named a "comedian phenomenon and icon" by Entertainment Weekly, Cook has maintained his reputation as one of today's most prolific stand-up comedians while simultaneously distinguishing himself as a charismatic and versatile actor. Whether imitating Tom Cruise on late-night TV, or discussing the design drawbacks of the Speak & Spell toy for children, Dane Cook never fails to get us going. This hyperkinetic funnyman is equally adept at dishing out observational humor and performing pratfalls. His delivery is always sincere and thoroughly engaging regardless of the style he adopts.
