The two mile high banked oval became "The Worlds Fastest Speedway" when Mario Andretti set a world record of 214.158 mph closed course speed on October 6, 1973 while qualifying for an Indy car race. A. J. Foyt has won more races at TWS than any other driver, both an Indy Car and a Stock Car, being the only driver who won races in both types of cars on the same day. Today, TWS is used for its challenging road racing track for clubs, motorcycle racing, and private testing. All cars are built in the Richard Petty Driving Experience fabrication shop to their technical specifications in order to ensure the utmost quality and safety.

At the open pastures of TWS, big state festival is organized for two days. More than 50 country stars glorify the event with a lot more festivity. Stocks on the 2 mile oval revving you up, there are professional drivers suiting up and racing twice a day for the Big State Cup, sanctioned by the Richard Petty Driving Experience. To get a closer look at the racing action, one can get intimate with the cars in the Pit Petting Zoo. Twice daily, stock cars stay in the oval for 30-minute track burners.
