Maribel Pérez (born on January 29, 1976 in Neerpelt, Belgium), best known by her stage name Belle Perez, is a Belgian musician and songwriter.

Born in Neerpelt to Spanish parents as María Isabelle Pérez Cerezo. The 31 year old Belgian singer was discovered for her musical talents by her current manager Patrick Renier at a local talent show. In 1999 she participated in the Belgian preselections of the Eurovision Song Contest and from then on Belle's career in music took off. She started off in pop music but in 2002 she changed her style to Latino/pop and went live on stage with her own "Baila Perez"-band. The album that came with it was an instant success and remained on the top spot in the Belgian charts for several weeks.

As of 2006, she has achieved a relatively high level of fame in her native Belgium and the Netherlands. She has also become the presenter of a popular Dutch music show in the meanwhile. Perez participated in the Belgian tryouts for the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, but ended up getting 3rd place. Her newest album Gotitas De Amor was released on August 23 2006. In December 2006 she released her 4th single of "Gotitas de amor", called "Hoy (Le pido a dios)", a ballad. On 5 May she will be performing another "Mega Latino"-Concert in the "Sportpaleis" Antwerpen. She will be performing in front of about 15,000 people. According to some articles on her fan-site she is planning to release a CD in Germany, Austria and Switzerland upcoming summer. She has already signed a contract. Due to some rumours "El mundo bailando" is going to be the first single in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Before summer she will release another single from her album "Gotitas de amor" in Belgium and Netherlands which will be "Amor Latino" and it peaked in Belgium on Position 11. In June 2007 she released her first album "Gotitas de amor" and the first single "El mundo bailando" in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In the mean time she recorded a new single called "Djolei! Djolei!" which has already been released on 15th June 2007 in Belgium and Netherlands. Once again it is a song for the upcoming summer and so she is heading again for her next Radio 2-Summer-Award-Trophy in August 2007. In The Netherlands she will release a new album. It will be a compilation with former hits like Que viva la vida and her current hit Djolei, Djolei. The name is going to be Greatest Latin Hits and it will also contain Live-Versions of previous mentioned songs. The following days she will be on a great promotion tour throughout the Netherlands.

In 1997 wordt de getalenteerde Belle Perez ontdekt door producer Patrick Renier. Er wordt geëxperimenteerd met verscheidene muziekstijlen, maar het begint voor Belle Perez pas echt met 'Hello World'.

1999
Het aanstekelijke 'Hello World' haalt niet alleen een mooie plaats in de preselecties voor Eurosong in 1999, het nummer scoort ook bij het brede publiek en wordt een zomerhit pur sang. Belle sleept er de Zomerhit 2000 voor beste productie mee in de wacht en ook het buitenland gaat door de knieën. Er wordt zelfs een Amerikaans platencontract getekend.

2000
Begin 2000 volgt het album 'Hello World' waarvan de single 'Honeybee' meteen de hitlijsten verovert. Wat volgt is een tweede Radio 2-Zomerhit-titel voor 'beste productie van het jaar'en een heuse wereldpromotour. Deze brengt Belle van megafestivals in Italië en Spanje tot in het verre Noord- en Zuid-Amerika. De Limburgse met zuiderse roots is in één klap HOT.

Zowel live als op plaat is La Perez in een mum van tijd een grote dame in de muziekindustrie.

2000 wordt afgesloten met het prachtige 'This Crazy Feeling', waarmee ze haar talent bevestigt.

In september vliegt Belle nog naar China, waar ze samen met 'Muziekfeest op het plein' co-presentator Jan Smit een reportage gaat draaien over het uitgaansleven van de Chinese jeugd. Deze reportage wordt in december door de Tros uitgezonden tijdens de Chinese week.

Na de trip naar China, staat er nog een bezoekje aan het piepkleine eiland Malta op het programma. De bekendheid van Belle zit er in de lift sinds 'El Mundo Bailando' werd geselecteerd als begintune voor een wekelijks liedjesprogramma op de Maltese televisie.

Op 6 oktober wordt de Heineken Music Hall weer het décor voor een bruisend latino-feest, wanneer Belle er haar nieuwste productie 'Latin Fever' voorstelt. Alle kaartjes zijn, één maand voor het mega concert, al de deur uit.

Maar niet getreurd voor diegenen die geen ticket wisten te bemachtigen: het concert in Amsterdam is slechts de aftrap van een heuse 'Latin Fever'-theatertour, die Belle in december naar Antwerpen, Hasselt, Brugge, Mechelen, Oostende en Roeselare brengt.

En ook Antwerpen mag zich alweer voorbereiden op wat latino-manie, want het Sportpaleis zal weer op zijn grondvesten daveren wanneer Belle er op 5 mei 2007 voor de tweede keer haar mega latino concert laat losbarsten.

2007
Vanaf 11 januari is Nederland aan de beurt om de latino-koorts aan den lijve te ondervinden. Belle en haar live-band geven in Oosterhout de aftrap van een reeks van 30 (!) theaterconcerten. Tegelijkertijd is men achter de schermen reeds volop in de weer met de voorbereidingen voor het tweede Mega Latino Concert én worden er plannen gesmeed om een doorbraak in Duitsland te forceren.

Eind februari komt er alvast positief nieuws: in juni zal het Duitse Chet Records – een onderdeel van Kosmo Music – de single ‘El Mundo Bailando' op de markt brengen en een paar weken later het album ‘Gotitas De Amor'.

Op 31 maart wordt de ‘Latin Fever'-tour afgesloten met een spetterend concert in Maastricht en slechts een paar weken later volgt het hoogtepunt van het jaar: het Mega Latino Concert II. Op 5 en 6 mei heerst er in en om het Sportpaleis een ware latino-manie. De vonken springen eraf wanneer Belle inzet met ‘Ave Maria'.
