Aerosmith Tickets Information
Aerosmith
Aerosmith is one of the most successful rock band, regarded at times as "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band". Although none of the band's member is actually from Boston, they are known as "the bad boys from Boston". The three members of the band, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Tom Hamilton, had originally met in the late '60s, in Sunapee, New Hampshire but not with the idea of forming a band together. However, in 1970, they decided to form a band and chose Boston, Massachusetts as their base.
The Members Before Forming Band
• Steven Tyler was a drummer/vocalist originally from Yonkers, New York. Before this band come into being, in the mid-late 1960s he remained part of different bands which were relatively unsuccessful such as the Vic Tallarico Orchestra, the Strangeurs/Chain Reaction, The Chain, Fox Chase, and William Proud.
• Joe Perry is originally from Hopedale, Massachusetts. Tyler in 1969, while vacationing in Sunapee, New Hampshire, met Joe Perry, who was at the time playing in a band called the Jam Band with bassist Tom Hamilton and drummer David "Pudge" Scott
• Hamilton is from New London, New Hampshire was washing dishes at the Anchorage in Sunapee Harbor, New Hampshire
Aerosmith Forms. In 1970, the three decided to form the band along with the help of guitarist Brad Whitford and drummer Joey Kramer. They chose Boston as their ideal and most suited base. The first album was released in 1973.
The Rise, Fall and Rise Again
• 1970s. The 70s is the golden decade of the band. Towards the end of 1971 the band started to gain some local success doing live shows. Originally booked through The Ed Malhoit Agency of Claremont NH. In 1972, Aerosmith signed with Columbia Records. However, after the release of their debut album in 1973, the band unleashed a chain of landmark hard-rock albums and remained the sensation of youth throughout the 1970s. Towards the end of 70s, a decline owing to serious substance abuse and drug addictions took them to near disbandment of the band when Joe Perry and Brad Whitford left the group. The period from 1979-1984 was a dark one for the band, which is marked with number of replacements. However, in 1984 Aerosmith took a new birth which is directly contributed to the efforts of Tim Collins, Joe Perry's then manager by helping the band resolve their old differences and as well as overcome their addictions resulting in the reformation of the original band.
• 1980s. Aerosmith's huge success and grand selling album "Greatest Hits" released in 1980. However, the guitarist Brad Whitford departed resulting in a loss to the band in 1981. Rick Dufay replaced Whitford followed by recording of their seventh album "Rock in a Hard Place" in 1982. The album was considered a commercial failure, failing to produce a major hit single.
• 1990s. The band appeared in a number of TV channels and was at the climax of their popularity. The TV shows include infamous "Wayne's World" performance on MTV's Unplugged, the Simpsons episode "Flaming Moe's" and many more.
• 2000's. The band continued their upward stride in next decade. They performed at the halftime show for Super Bowl XXXV, in January 2001 pop stars 'N Sync, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, and Nelly collaborated with Aerosmith at the end for a performance of the group's legendary song "Walk This Way".
• 2007. The band still on a very high note and continued performing in Europe as well as across the world including Latin America, UAE and India. The band also played in California and Canada in late July.
