John Aaron Lewis, American jazz pianist and composer-arranger, born April 13, 1972 in Rutland, Vermont, USA, is the lead vocalist and acoustic guitarist of the hard rock group Staind and was a member of the Modern Jazz Quartet.

Lewis grew up, largely, in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Before Staind, Aaron Lewis was, in a band known as J-CAT

Lewis is famous for his songwriting skills and has been nominated for 3 Grammys. His hobbies include fishing, golf and riding his mini dirt bike. He has worked in landscaping, cleaned hotel rooms, and played solo acoustic sets in bars around Atlanta.

He was also attributed on a remix for the song "Crawling" on Linkin Park's album Reanimation as well as Sevendust's album Animosity, in which he contributed vocals to the song "Follow" and on the songs "Bleed" and "Send In the Clowns" by the band "Cold." Aaron performed at his old high school on November 4, 2006, in Longmeadow and gave all the profits to the music department to fund the department's expenses to buy new equipment and supplies.

Staind's third album, Break the Cycle, was the best-selling rock record of 2001. Since its debut at Number One in May, it has sold more than 4 million copies and has never slipped from the Top Twenty. The success of the Massachusetts quartet's pathos-drenched hard rock is due in large part to frontman Aaron Lewis, who draws on his own disturbing childhood experiences and feelings of alienation to express what his fans can't: "I feel all this pain/Stuffed it down/ It's back again," he sings in "Outside." Lewis swears he'll never run out of fucked-up stuff to write about. But he also admits that, during a year when he's got a quadruple-platinum record, money in the bank, and his wife, Vanessa, is pregnant, he's got no complaints.

Aaron Lewis is currently working on a solo cd, which is anticipated to be much like his acoustic tour. Lewis also has plans to hit the road soon for a run of solo shows that includes a five-night stand at Connecticut's Mohegan Sun that starts December 27. He also plans to record his first solo album shortly and does have some material written for that. He said "I don't want to have to put it out on a particular label because I have to. I want the same fair shake as everyone else, and have anyone who's interested in it, be interested in it, and be able to paint the best picture I can paint. I've been writing songs over the years that never came to the table with Staind."

Lewis is also working on his next venture: a reality-television series called "The Crew" on which he'll work as an executive producer. Lewis told that his TV team shot footage on the road using Staind's own road crew, and will be shopping "The Crew" to all of the networks in the coming months.

About the collaborative effort with Craig Piligian he said "It's actually a watchable and true reality-TV show. It's not the reality TV we've become so accustomed to. It's actually almost documentary-esque. It's about the crew that sets up the show every day, and makes sure the lights work, which our guitars are tuned — the 16 hours a day that goes into making sure that each show goes off correctly. Instead of looking for everyone's quirks and faults and pointing out their shortcomings, it's actually giving them the credit they deserve for what they do. They're the soldiers in the war."
